ESSENTIAL OIL
The love of scents has been a human phenomenon for centuries. The beautiful aromas in nature are captured naturally and synthetically and are used in many ways around the world.
Beautiful scents can be derived from nature or from the laboratory. NAPLES PURE uses ONLY scents derived from nature called essential oils - from plants, stems, leaves, petals, seeds, flowers, herbs grasses, fruits, twigs, bark, roots, etc. through distillation and isolate extraction. We do not use synthetic lab created fragrance.
Essential oils are concentrated aromatic essences contained within a plant. They are nature's highly therapeutic aromas which provide healing properties and therapeutic benefits not found in lab created, synthetic fragrances. We can benefit from using these essential oils for a variety of conditions and to promote energy, to enhance mood, relaxation and healthfulness and to evoke pleasant and uplifting feelings.
Lab created fragrance is a synthetic, chemical concoction which is called 'fragrance' and is referred to as 'fragrance', 'perfume' or 'parfum'. Those terms refers specifically to the artificial fragrances commonly found in cosmetics, soaps and lotions, cleaning products and perfumes - not to be confused with essential oils.
NAPLES PURE hallmark 'fragrance free' skin wash soap was originally developed for adults and children who suffer form sensitivities and allergies to lab created synthetic and chemical ingredients and fragrances. This can be experienced as skin, sinus or pulmonary irritation and can often be relieved using our fragrance free and even our scented soaps because they are all free of synthetic chemicals.
For the same reason, and because of the negative environmental influence, we do not use any lab created fragrance or ingredients. We are delighted when we hear our customers report relief from irritation, itching, redness etc. after using our soaps!

Antibacterial soaps
Most antibacterial soaps contain the chemical ingredient triclosan. When bacteria are exposed to triclosan they become genetically mutated and harder to kill. Triclosan is shown to have negative effects on humans.
Hormones and antibacterial soaps
Most soaps contain chemical antibacterial agents. Studies at Oxford and FDA found that triclosan altered hormones in rats causing an estrogenic effect.
Antibacterial soap and our environment
When people wash and rinse chemical antibacterial soap down the drain, it disappears from view, but goes on to enter our water supply. The antibacterial chemicals cannot be completely removed by the wastewater treatment facilities and these and other chemicals become a sludge which is then put on agricultural land and into our food supply.
Antibacterial triclosan and triclocarban
Both of these chemicals, along with others, degrade into carcinogens. When they are put on our agricultural soil it follows that they enter our crops and food and water systems.
Natural vs chemical
The Oxford Journal of Infectious Disease and the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy have reported on the effectiveness of antibacterial soaps. Their finding is that antimicrobial soap was "no more effective than plain soap." It follows that Naples Pure soap, with natural antibacterial properties, is the best of all worlds!
